I really enjoyed this cartoon. It’s fun to look at and to see different things each time I’ve looked. Nice flow, great textures, color and composition. The point is well made (and well taken), but Abby did so with wonderful style. Inspired by anime, Abby makes it her own style, with her own approach and technique. I like the “pencil” work and how she didn’t make perfectly ruled and square panels. I love the details (and the mushroom earrings – is that Abby herself?!). A lot to look at and appreciate! I love, each year, seeing the great submissions... and I might repeat myself in saying, keep drawing. Whether she takes up art/graphics as a career or you have it as a hobby, keep drawing. Either way, Abby is very talented and wonderfully clever. I’d love to see more of her work.

I was really struck by Ian’s cartoon, by the clean-lines and the simplicity of his work. I realize it was done on a computer, but the too often the work is OVER worked. But not here. Ian’s not dependent on bells and whistles and all that is possible using computers. He showed restraint, but more importantly he showed knowledge and skill what to do and not do (over-do). I love the flyer in the foreground and the clean-up in the back ground, nice composition. Without a doubt, super award worthy. To be honest, I have a good friend who is a longtime animator in California (Disney and other great studios) – Ian, your line work and suggestion of movement, makes me think of him. Good stuff. I don’t know what you “want to do” with your talent. A career or a hobby... but either, you hold great promise. This belies your age!
